What if... 

is a great way to start a question. It opens your mind to possibility and potential.

  1. What if - you doubled the amount of traffic that landed on your website? Would it double your leads?
  2. What if - you implemented a referral marketing plan for your business? Could you win far more business from referral?
  3. What if - you put your prices up? Would your conversion rate go down, or would you just make more money?

What if... Richard Branson ran your business for the next twelve months? Let's assume that he could not use his name, contacts, or his money! Would he be more successful than you? If so why? What would he do differently? Would he do anything that you can't do? The answer is probably no, so why don't you do this!

Sit down with your team and answer this simple question - If Richard Branson ran our business for 12 months, what would he do differently?

For example, would he:

  1. Run a brain storming day with the team to put a profit improvement plan together
  2. Focus on a few quick wins. You know the leads that have been sitting there for ages that have not been followed up for weeks or even months
  3. Increase prices
  4. Remove products, or add new ones
  5. Improve cash flow
  6. Ensure that the company has a better understanding of its finances
  7. Develop a new website
  8. Create a new brand.

I really don't know what he would do for you, but I do know that if he was told to increase sales and profits, then he would change some things and perhaps lots of things.

I hope this has given you some food for thought. But even more than that, I hope that you are going to take action as a result of that thought.
