I have been the owner and manager of the Kings Bridge Hotel for 10 years now following many years working for larger hotel groups across Europe and the Middle East. This has given me the experience to understand what it is that our travellers and guests are looking for. I returned home to the UK to use this experience in my own property and to give our guests the service and comfort that they were looking for.
Despite being a city dweller (in my case London) I have always been a very keen pursuer of country sports, particularly fishing and shooting. I began to find that it was difficult to get bespoke trips and holidays across the world based on these particular interests. I felt sure that I would not be alone in struggling to find very specialist, bespoke travel services. This was particularly as I often liked to combine business trips with my personal interests so I needed a specialist who was knowledgeable about both and could understand and accommodate my needs and wishes. At that time such a thing did not exist and that is why I decided to set up Independent Travel Concierge.
My primary role is to oversee all online development and maximise online sales. At Jules B I am always striving to deliver strategies targeted for long term online growth and development, working on website building and launch, web analytics, online marketing, traffic development and the management of staff to meet targets and push the limits of the business.
I am a serial entrepreneur specialising in life sciences and chair two exceptional companies Cells4Life, the UK's largest cord blood stem cell bank, and Stabilitech Biopharma, developer of the world's first 15-strain influenza vaccine and the first platform that will allow any vaccine to be take orally.
I graduated from Imperial with a First Class Honours degree in mathematics and physics and joined IBM during the computing revolution in the 1980s. And 4 years later, at the age of 26, founded my first company which specialised in networking and communications products distribution. It grew to revenues of over $500m in 13 years, employing over 1,200 people operating in 9 European countries with a full listing on the London Stock Exchange. I have run several other companies including a high-speed firewall company based in California; founded one of Europe's largest network training companies; and developed one of the first LAN search engines.
By far, the most rewarding part of my career has been life sciences - it combines my love of science, bleeding edge technology, managing complicated companies and directly helping people achieve better outcomes in their health.
In my personal life, I am a very keen dressage rider and my move from technology to life sciences was because of an injury to one of my horses. I have ridden all my life and had a dream of making Team GB in dressage. I bought Kaspar when he was two years old - he was, and still is, a dream horse to ride and train. He was the first horse that I managed to train to Grand Prix and in 2003 he had a very common injury, he tore a suspensory ligament. Normally, this would mean the end for his competitive career. However, my vet suggested we try stem cells - which at the time was a very rare therapy. They worked brilliantly and he returned to a full and long competition career and he did make Team GB.
Astonishingly, whilst I could treat my horse with stem cells, these therapies were not available to the public. The first cord blood stem cell treatment was performed back in 1988 and were used to treat Fanconi anaemia, today they are being used for over 85 different conditions and are the only therapy for cerebral palsy and autism. Stem cells are the building blocks of regenerative medicine and are going to fundamentally change how we are able to treat most illnesses and injuries - everyone of us needs to know about them and have the opportunity to use them as therapies are developed.
The most powerful stem cells available are potentially those contained in umbilical cord blood. My mission is to promote regenerative medicine and help make it available to everyone.
I am an entrepreneurial retailer and wholesaler with a strong track record of achievement and success in E-Commerce within a B2C environment.
For over 30 years I have successfully founded, created and operated businesses within Men’s High St retail and online optical. I’ve built successful, high-performing teams – both technical and non-technical and always enjoyed developing profitable, long-term relationships with clients.
It hasn’t all been plain sailing. I’ve learnt some hard lessons along the way that have shaped my ‘people first’ approach. I have a laser focus when it comes to margin, I believe profit tops turnover, cash is king and putting the customer first builds the right reputation. I’ve worked extensively with clients and suppliers all across the globe – giving me a truly international perspective in understanding cultural nuance and sensitivity.
By the very nature of my career to date, I have a very broad business experience and perspective. From developing international supply chains, merchandising and store design to raising VC funding, negotiating with banks and property agents and building high performance E-commerce sites – I believe I can bring value and insight to solve a broad range of business challenges.
Throughout my business career hindsight would have been a wonderful thing. I feel that I’m now able to share my knowledge and experience with others and help them avoid pitfalls and overcome the challenges that I’ve faced over a thirty-year career. In addition I believe my e-commerce knowledge and experience is very much at the cutting edge – enabling me to not only support ‘traditional’ small business – but also add value to those looking to establish themselves in the digital economy.
I graduated from the University of Warwick with a BSc Hons in Mathematics & Statistics. Since leaving university I have become Founder and Director of FlexiFly.co.uk.
While studying I played an active role in the family nursing home business, The Graham Care Group, and have continued as a Graduate Trainee alongside my work with FlexiFly, being involved with all areas of the business.
For some years I have been actively involved in international motorsport and achieved numerous awards as co-driver to a European Rally Champion (my dad!). It was these experiences of weekends in Europe that partly inspired us about how we could make air travel more flexible and convenient. The calibre of competitors we met on events have given us insight into the potential our alternative to traditional aircraft charter has.
Having supported 100s of small and growing businesses across different industry sectors over the last 20 years or so, I now tend to work with a more select group of firms in the advanced engineering / manufacturing, technology and construction / property markets.
I most enjoy working with businesses on their strategic development and facilitating partnership building to help broaden their perspectives, networks and customer base. I regularly link up with other professionals and service providers to help these companies achieve their growth ambitions.
My technical strengths lie in a broad knowledge of funding options, covering grants, bridging loans and equity finance, combined with a common sense approach to accessing much-needed finance. My particular forte is preparing business proposals, business plans and tenders, helping businesses to prepare high quality funding applications and sales documents to increase their success.
I have had the privilege to help guide and nurture some fantastic business owners over the years, many of whom I regard as true friends. Many people in my field of work describe business consultancy simply as 'helping people' and it is a cloak that fits well.
I am a huge believer in customer service and have a strong sense of how to get it right.
Having studied Pharmacology at Southampton University (all those years ago), I made the decision to move into mainstream commercial business and love being at the sharp end of sales and marketing.
Facilitating success is a passion of mine and this combined with a natural entrepreneurial focus is one of the main reasons I set up Refersquare.
As CEO, my primary focus at this stage is to make as many sales people aware that we exist. I also spend time engaging with the new users to ensure they are getting the most out of the app and to gather important feedback on how we can improve what we do.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and being out in the countryside on my bike.
How do you define success? Is it based on your net worth? Is it that moment when you are finally living the life that you have always envisioned? Or do you define success by how you are able to influence people through your decisions, charm and authority? Others may argue that success is a perspective. True enough, we live in a world where dreams vary yet more often than not are meant to be chased and only those who persevere get to have the taste of it. I never met a woman who has magnified success in every aspect of life - not until I met Vikki Thomas.
Vikki’s success story is genuinely something everybody can connect with. She didn’t grow up with opportunities served to her on a silver platter but she had one thing all of us have – A Dream. That, coupled with determination. Like the rest of us, her dreams didn’t happen overnight, but she definitely made them happen. She had the drive to overcome hurdles and made the most out of every situation.
We could be a little green-eyed sometimes when people around us become so successful, but not with Vikki. She always shares a piece of herself and makes sure that you are part of her quest, and because of this, you can only feel sincere happiness for her.
Of all values in life, compassion is one of those that is hardest to fake, and Vikki holds on to this in her core. Her authenticity, commitment, integrity, and compassion for others made her the Real Estate Investor, International Speaker, Serial Entrepreneur, and the Author that she is today; these, plus being A Wife, A Mother, A Friend – A Power Woman.
I believe that purpose-led business can play a leading role in creating more inclusive communities. And that being purpose-led leads to amazing word of mouth stories being told about your organisation.
I'm nomadic because I constantly move between the land of my birth, England, the land where I spent half of my life, NZ, and the land where a lot of my development work occurs, Vietnam.
And I'm an entrepreneur because I just can't work in organisations any more. There are too many issues and problems that I know how to fix, but never have the authority to act on. So now I spend my time understanding the problems that organisations, have, articulating them, and then creating the solutions.

I have had a very varied career. I started in the food industry and my first job was working on flavours in Angel Delight! This led me to spend 16 happy years in the flavour industry, 8 of them in Cincinnati, USA, working with the major fast-food companies.
When I returned to the UK in 2000 I had young children and decided that to ensure some flexibility I would start my own business. Fate led me to the care business and I bought a leading home-care franchise. I ran this for 13 years and built it to a turnover of £3 million. I was able to sell it and this has allowed me to build a business in Live-in care - an area I have always been passionate about...........

Phil is one of those rare British engineers that just invents and builds remarkable things. His work spans many years and he currently owns and Manufactures Trident cars, he makes bespoke motorbikes and has a number of other game changing projects in play. He has developed remarkable technologies to increase crop production and reduce malaria [the world’s biggest killer] Phil’s energy seems boundless.
Here’s a bit about his cars
The Trident Iceni, Magna and Ventura models not only run on vegetable oil but will also do close to 200mph, and get to 60mph in just under 4.0 seconds. We can laugh as we tell the greenies that our supercar isn’t greedy either and will sip biodiesel at over 60mpg and cover a claimed 2000 miles on a tankful. Not only that, the bodywork and chassis will last a lifetime, possibly more and there is a 100,000-mile engine service interval.
The key to building the fastest diesel car is the eight-speed automatic gearbox, which is located in the rear of the car. Designed by Bevan and built in America, he explained several years ago to me how it works: “We are using the cogs in the gearbox in a different way. The gear change severity is based on a cruise mode, which means there are seamless changes. When we go racing there are manual paddle shifts, but on a day-to-day basis that would be tiring, so it is better to be fully automatic.”
This enables the car to make full use of its huge torque by keeping the engine operating within its peak performance band. Computer calculations have been made suggesting a top speed of 230mph, 0-60mph in under four seconds and at 56mph, fuel consumption in excess of 50mpg. The car you buy though will be a bit slower (190mph) and rather more frugal.
I have a diverse background. As a trained actor and dancer it has given me a lot of confidence to network and host events. I love connecting people and being a creator of marketing ideas and solutions and developing concepts for TV, Stage, Film, Music, Charity and Luxury Experiences.

Duncan Goodhew MBE is an Olympic Swimming Gold Medalist and Motivational Speaker.
The twin misfortunes of losing his hair when he was 10 years old and being dyslexic spurred Duncan Goodhew on to win Olympic Gold for the 100m Breaststroke in Moscow. This was merely the beginning for Duncan Goodhew who quickly, at the age of 23, adapted the lessons learnt in the pool to assist business teams to find inspiration and effective ways to overcome the obstacles to success. Inducted by IBM, he has worked with 100’s of leading businesses and organisations.
Many of the projects have been leading edge such as the Partner Survival Course he launched into PricewaterhouseCoopers, which pulled together his passion for improving overall personal, and team performance and the knowledge gained from working in the corporate, sport and health and fitness sectors. Another example is a programme he designed with the Bickerton Partnership for Microsoft Europe who rarely meet and therefore have to function as a ‘virtual team’.
Duncan Goodhew’s business experience stretches form arranging large sponsorship to corporate fundraising and business introductions.
In his book, Sink or Swim, Duncan Goodhew draws on the events of his own life and the long and arduous grind of training for competitive swimming, where your skills will be judged on a performance which is over in less time than it’ll take you to read this paragraph.
He addresses such issues as how to get yourself motivated (as well as how to stay motivated) and, perhaps most important of all, that success is an entirely individual matter. This is a book which can be applied to home and family life as well as life in the office and addresses the issue of making sure you set your own criteria for achievement – rather than simply meeting the expectations of other people. It is a book which redefined the nature of success – and shows you how to achieve it.
My working life has always involved working closely with people and delivering results. For nearly 30 years I have run behaviour programmes and been involved with many other methods of working with and analysing personality, performance and behaviour. Having enjoyed significant business success I believe that if we first build the people the people will build the business. Which in no way reduces the focus on clear business strategy and purpose. As a result I've already helped 11 people become Millionaires.
